The Landlord

Ok so this is another stupid funny one (I love will Ferrell), that I found on funnyordie.com. This is a good example of how I would like to play with humor in using the unexpected. Granted, it is a simple plot line that really has no climax or true ending, but the kind of humor that it has is hilarious. When watching this video in trying to understand where I would like to go in the future, I ask that you pay attention to the unexpected humor and the simplicity of it, not the camera movements or shots (because those are horrible).

Here are some out takes, this little girl is so cute...

...and some commentary by Will and Adam...

Charlie the Unicorn

This vidoe is probably one of the stupidest movies I have seen but I wanted to share it with everyone for two reasons: despite it's stupidity and imature nature it is hilarious (especialy if you watch it more than once), and the number of people who have viewed this on Youtube is insane (about 33 million)!! It is simple, really simple actually, but it has been able to draw quite the number of people in to watch it, and apparently there are more funny videos at filmcow.com.

I posted this video because I am a huge fan of the stupid humor that embodies it and a variety of other short and Hollywood films (Napolean Dynamite, Anchorman, Dodgeball etc. etc.). While the movies that I plan on making will have realy people in them rather than cartoon figures, I enjoy this kind of humor and I hope to emulate something kind of similar (in terms of humor only).

p.s. I would be curious to actually see the people who made this film in action, because when watching it I cannot help but think of some bored and lonely guy in his room, maybe with one other person, trying to create this short story. I get an image of the guy who made a "tutorial" on annotated videos on Youtube with the story of the Penguin. Too funny.

My Very First Movie!

This is a film I made last semester about Mya the dog and her adventures home. It was my first film, so bear with me, but I am very proud of it because it took FOREVER to make/edit. I hope to see improvement and drastic changes in my movies at the end of this semester, but I thought I would post my first experience with the camera.

It's an annotation video on Youtube, so you choose the story. It is a new feature on YouTube that allows for the audience to pick the story, it is kinda cool. Here is the first of many videos:

*I had to paste a link to it rather than embed it because the annotation feature wouldn't work otherwise...

Classes have begun

Break is over, classes are in session, and I cannot wait for May 2 to arrive!! I know, I know it is technically only the second day of classes, but I am ready! If anyone has not yet figured it out, May 2 is graduation day for me :) Not only am I graduating this year, but I am turning 21 as well, and we all know how this town is considering all of the holidays devoted to drinkig. Finally.

My classes this semester include Media Theory and Criticism, Senior Seminar, Feminist Theory, and Video Production. I must say, I am extremely nervous about all of them; not only are they time consuming, but there are some major projects involved in them as well. I thought the same thing about last semester and I survived, so I can only hope I will have a similar experience with this semester.

Well, here is my new blog. You can check out my old blog too, it's called Interactive Media (for the class).
